Spirit Competition grand opening 25th Saturday at the Lionel Wendt Theatre !

SPIRIT a competition for voice and instrument spanning all genres covered by the Festival, presented by Mantra Moods in association with the David Academy of Performing Arts (DAPA) will be the fore-runner of this extravagant, debut Music Festival in Sri Lanka. SPIRIT is the island-wide competition that will go into every District and Province of Sri Lanka to sift through all the brilliantly varied talent, coming up with the best of the best in terms of lyricism, melody, and overall delivery of all the hitherto untapped amateur musical reserves of Sri Lanka.
The competition itself will be stretched out over the months leading up to SSCMF'12, from the auditions, held in June, to the Grand Finale which will be held during the main Festival at the illustrious Lionel Wendt Theatre. Contestants would need to send in their applications by the 25th of May 2012. The Grand Finale will commence with a splendid opening ceremony/concert on the 24th of August 2012.
The competition will be of a very high standard as the Organizers and Festival experts will ensure that those contestants who make it to the Finals will have the advantage of receiving training in voice and instrumental technique, style, performance skills under the best professional instructors possible. This will guarantee not only a very exciting competition, but will also help lift the standards of music and performance in Sri Lanka.
